MEMBERSHIP FAQs

Q. Which membership is best for me?

The first thing you need to decide is, how many times a week you want to come or are coming to the studio. Once you’ve decided that, you select the membership that reflects that number of days eg two days per week, three days per week etc.

We recommend a minimum of 2 days a week to really start to see the benefits of Pilates. One is better than none but, we recommend two per week minimum. At three classes per week it is likely that along with a healthy diet you will see results and feel the benefits more quickly. Anything more than three is cream on top!

Q. How do I sign up for a membership?

You sign up for a membership via the athleticapilates.com website. You cannot purchase memberships via the Mindbody App. Simply go to the ‘Pricing’ page on the website and you will see the membership purchase tab with instructions.

Q. What happens if i go on holiday and know that I’ll be away for a period of time?

Simply contact us at studio@athleticapilates.com and we will either cancel or pause your membership depending on the length of time you will be away. We ask that you give us at least 4 weeks notice so that we can ensure we determine the end date of your membership before you hit another autopay cycle. If you know your return date, we can set it up before you go or, you can contact us when you get back and we can start your membership back up when you are ready to return to the studio

Q. What if I want to do an extra class in any given week?

We offer members only casual ‘opt in’ classes at the same rate as your membership price. You can purchase member casual ‘opt in’ classes to top up any given week or, purchase a pack and draw from the pack to add in classes whenever you like

Q. How do I cancel my membership?

Just e-mail us at studio@athleticapilates.com and tell us when you would like to cancel the membership. We require at least 4 weeks notice so we can be sure to end the membership before the next autopay cycle.

Q. How do I change my membership if I want to increase or decrease my days per week?

If you decide that you would like to increase of decrease your per week class numbers, simply contact us at studio@athleticapilates.com. We will cancel the existing membership and help you set up your new membership over the phone or meet you in the studio to do it in person.

Q. What’s the benefit of a membership if the per class rate is the same?

The benefit of the memberships is that you are able to secure your preferred class times as far as 12 months in advance without having to pay for those classes upfront. This takes the pain out of having to keep up to speed with the status of your pack and miss classes when you don’t realise that you’ve exhausted your current pack. As the studio gets busier, peak times begin to get more and more difficult to secure so forward booking ensures that you are not disappointed when your favourite class time is booked out. The additional benefit of a membership is that is allows you to budget your finances by having an equal amount coming our of your bank account each month. Members are also able to buy casual ‘opt in’ classes at a cheaper rate than non members

Q. Why are classes more expensive than those I see at group reformer studios?

Those studios can have up to 20 reformers (to one instructor) in a space where everyone does the same exercise regardless of their skill, strength and experience. Athletica Pilates is a true premium boutique Pilates studio. At A / P, we keep our classes very small with a maximum of only 4 clients per instructor. This ensures that you get personalised repertoires and corrections appropriate to you. The equipment used at A / P is best in class, handmade by a traditional Pilates equipment manufacturer in California. We run classes using all the traditional Pilates equipment (not just the reformer) of Reformer, Wunda Chair, Cadillac and small apparatus such as the barrels and spine correctors. Many of the group reformer classes run for 45 minutes. Classes at A / P run for 60 minutes.

Q. What qualifications do the A / P instructors have?

At Athletica Pilates, our instructors are all Diploma trained having gained a Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction. Their training covers all the traditional Pilates equipment of Reformer, Wunda Chair, Cadillac and small apparatus such as the barrels and spine correctors. The Diploma course requires the instructors to complete a course in Anatomy and Physiology giving our instructors a depth of knowledge in the human body. The course also covers health and safety. All instructors are required to have first aid certificates prior to commencing their employment at A / P. The Diploma courses completed by A / P staff are government accredited and can take up to 18 months to complete given the extent of hours required in observation, assisted teaching and self mastery of the discipline. The instructors complete the Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction with industry best qualifications.

We keep our class sizes small and tailor each workout specifically to each individual client. The A / P method draws from the traditional Pilates method of teaching and is founded in classic pilates exercises and movement techniques.

Q. When will the autopay start?

As soon as you sign up for your membership, you will pay the initial 4 weeks of the membership. This triggers the ability for you to start booking classes. You will nominate a start date for booking your membership classes and your first auto payment will be deducted 4 weeks after that date. You will be able to view your payment schedule on your Mindbody profile. If you are not able to find the payment schedule, simply contact us at studio@athleticapilates.com and we can forward you a copy of your schedule.

Q. How often will the funds be deducted?

The autopay cycle is a 4 week cycle. We specify every 4 weeks rather than every month as some months have more weeks than others and therefore we feel every 4 weeks is easier for you to track

Q. What if i can’t make a certain day in any given week?

If for some reason something comes up and you are unable to make your scheduled class in any given week, you can simply early cancel yourself out of that class and, select another day within the same week

Q. Do late cancellation fees still apply with memberships?

Yes, the late cancellation fees still apply for membership clients. Our classes are small and we often have clients on waitlists. Most people require at least 24 hours in advance to be advised that they have been added to a class off a waitlist which is why we require cancellations happen at least 24 hours in advance to free up the spot. If you are cancelling due to a Covid related issue then we simply ask that you contact us at studio@athleticspilates.com and we will be happy to assist in early cancelling your class. Your health and wellbeing and the health and wellbeing of our staff are our priority.

Q. What happens if there is an instructor change in one of my regular classes?

Yes, the first payment will come out as soon as you sign up for the membership. This triggers the ability for you to start booking classes. You will nominate a start date for booking your membership classes and your next (or first) auto payment will be deducted 4 weeks after that date. If you want to align your very first payment with classes then, you can sign up for the membership on the week that you want to start booking.

We will let you know when the classes have been deleted and you can go ahead and re-book another day that suits you.

Q. Do I have to book recurring days on a membership?

No, you do not have to book recurring days. The recurring option makes it super easy to book the same class on the same day every week for up to 12 months in advance by simply selecting your start and end date and hitting the ‘book recurring appointment’ button. If you prefer to chop and change classes every week to suit your schedule, you can simply go through and book day by day.
